FileMaker 2.1, 3.0, 4.0, 5.0, 5.5, 6.0, 7.0, 8.0, 8.5, 9, 10, 11 and 12 are supported on MacOS X and Windows.

Due to the lack of a FileMaker 5/5.5/6.0 ODBC driver for Mac OS X, the transfer of data between FileMaker and other databases requires either running FmPro Migrator on a Windows computer (or Parallels/VirtualPC on MacOS X) or converting the older FileMaker files to FileMaker 7+.. FileMaker 7/8/9 now include a FileMaker ODBC driver which makes the direct transfer of data possible from MacOS X to other databases. [You must have the full version of FileMaker, not the 30 Day Trial version, as the Trial version for FileMaker 7/8/8.5//9/10/11 doesn't include the ODBC Driver as part of the download. Please consider the FmPro Migration Service if you don't have a full version of FileMaker.]

Note: For extraction of images from FileMaker Pro 7.0 container fields, an upgrade may be required to FileMaker Pro 8/8.5/9/10/11 for full functionality. The transfer of images from container fields along with the rest of the columns of data is not currently supported with FileMaker Pro 11, use FileMaker Pro 8 - 10 for image data transfer. However the FmPro Migrator Image Export feature does work with FileMaker Pro 11 and allows exporting the contents of a single container field for all records within a table.

FileMaker 11 (all versions) also has a documented issue with generating malformed XML code which is written to the DDR XML file and also placed onto the clipboard. This problem results from unescaped high ASCII or Unicode characters being written to the file or placed onto the clipboard (scripts, tables). The workaround to resolve this issue is to perform the migration process using FileMaker Pro Advanced 10.

FileMaker 5.0/5.5/6.0 can be accessed via ODBC from FmPro Migrator on Windows even if FileMaker 5.0/5.5/6.0 is running on Mac OS X as long as the Remote Data Access Companion is enabled.

FileMaker Pro Server does not support ODBC data transfer. This feature is available with FileMaker Pro 6 Unlimited, desktop editions and FileMaker Server Advanced 7+.
